Valentine’s Day 2017 in Edinburgh

Edinburgh is a beautiful and romantic city and hosts many things for couples to do together. It is the perfect place to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Here are just a few ideas for what you can do with your loved one in Edinburgh on 14 February.

Romantic Breakfast

Probably one of the most memorable experiences you can have in Edinburgh is watching a sunrise together on Arthur’s Seat. The big and long-extinct volcano sits just at the edge of the city centre. So, take a breakfast picnic along with you and enjoy a very romantic start to your Valentine’s Day together.

Romantic Strolls

Take a romantic walk along the Water of Leith Walkway and discover the beautiful plants and wildlife on the way. You can then stop off and relax and enjoy lunch, dinner or some cocktails in one of Leith’s trendy bars and restaurants.

Romantic Meal for Two

The Witchery is not just one of the most romantic restaurants in Edinburgh but is also proud to be the most lavish. Once a sixteenth-century merchant’s house, it has a wonderful magical atmosphere with candles, oak panelling, tapestries and decorative ceiling. The food is exceptional too and uses fresh ingredients from Scotland.

Romantic Dates

Take a trip to Edinburgh Zoo and see Edinburgh’s most famous lovebirds – pandas Tian Tian and Yang Guang. Visit all the different animal enclosures, listen to the expert talks and even see the Penguin Parade. It’s a great day out for couples of all ages.
There aren’t many more places as romantic to visit as Edinburgh Castle. The castle has a fascinating history and offers some of the most wonderful views over Edinburgh. And if you are thinking of getting married in Edinburgh, then what’s more romantic than tying the knot at a castle?

Romantic Night Out

One of the largest theatres in the UK, the Edinburgh Playhouse is a traditional theatre with a lovely ornate interior. Treat your loved one to tickets for their favourite musical or show and you will both have a wonderful night out together.
Enjoy a cinema date at the cosiest, most romantic cinema you are likely to find. The Dominion Cinema has reclining seats and even provides foot stools. The cinema offers small intimidate screenings, so ideal for a cosy night out together.
And for something a little bit different, enjoy a romantic evening looking at the stars. Winter astronomy evenings at The Royal Observatory offers you an amazing stargazing evening that you will never forget. The observatory team will be your guide for the evening and help you explore the sky’s most fascinating sights.
