Limited tickets remaining – Trafalgar Night Dinner

Friday 19th October, 7.00 for 7.30pm,

On Friday 19th October the Club will be hosting a dinner to mark the anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, which took place on 21st October 1805. Our guest speaker for the evening will be Rear Admiral Michael Gregory OBE, who was appointed Lord-Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire in October 2008. Prior to this he had enjoyed a wide ranging career in the Royal Navy spanning 36 years. Much of his career was spent in the Submarine Service with three submarine commands followed by command of the Frigate HMS Cumberland. He was awarded the OBE for the longest continuously submerged patrol in Royal Navy history. He finished his career as Flag Officer, Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland. On retirement from the Royal Navy he became CEO of two Industry Support Organisations. He is also a brigadier in the Royal Company of Archers; The Queen’s Body Guard in Scotland.

This dinner will provide an opportunity for members to support the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity through a silent auction. There are two auction prizes, which members and guests can bid for at the Trafalgar Night Dinner. The proceeds, including any donations are in aid of the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity. The first prize is an escorted visit to HMS Prince of Wales alongside in Rosyth Dockyard for four people. HMS Prince of Wales departs for sea trials in September 2019 and this visit will be programmed at a mutually convenient date organised between the auction prize winner and HMS Prince of Wales. Unfortunately, children cannot take part in this visit due to health and safety reasons and the visit will involve ladders and steps. The second prize on offer is a bottle of limited edition Fine Trinidad Rum, Caroni 1997. This particular batch was bottled to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the Royal Marines in 2014. The distillery, which produced this rum, has since closed.

The RSC Trafalgar Day Dinner is a black tie event. Mess kit and decorations can be worn where appropriate. Limited tickets available. To book a place simply enter the number of attendees or  alternatively please contact Lauren in the Office on 0131 525 6157. Members who are unable to attend the Trafalgar Night Dinner on Friday 19th October, but would like to bid on the Silent Auction prizes may do so by contacting Lauren.
