12.00 for 12.30 pm
George Lowder, Chief Executive of Transport for Edinburgh
George has joined Transport for Edinburgh from Defence, where he served for almost 35 years, the last 14 at Director and Deputy Director level. He was commissioned into The Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment) in 1981, and then studied Scots Law at Aberdeen, graduating in 1986. As a young officer he served around the world and then in the 1991 Gulf War, where he was awarded a commendation. He was made MBE in 1998. Most recently, as The Director of Defence Intelligence Operations, George has been responsible for global operations, across the enterprise, with a £450M budget. He became a member of the Club earlier this year and is sure to have an interesting talk for us.
