Refurbishment

09/08/2011

The historic Royal Scots Club in Edinburgh has completed a £1.5 million refurbishment and extension programme which features the addition of state-of-the-art conference and function facilities.

Then refurbishment project, which took two and a half years from planning to completion, includes the creation of a new bar and lounge area for the existing Hepburn Suite, the installation of a passenger lift to connect the Club’s six floors and the newly developed Princess Royal Suite.

Situated in Abercromby Place, one Edinburghs finest Georgian streets, the Royal Scots Club was founded as a War Memorial Club in memory of the 11,000 Royal Scots killed in the First World War.

The Royal Scots Club is a members’ club offering overnight accommodation, dining facilities, conference and business meeting rooms, and a setting for special events such as weddings. Membership is open to anyone over 18 and corporate membership is encouraged. No armed forces connection is required and the Club has some 1,950 members from all walks of life.

The jewel in its crown is the Princess Royal Suite, opened earlier this year by HRH Princess Anne, the Club’s Patron. It can seat 200 theatre style and 160 for dinner.

The Royal Scots Club has 23 individually designed en-suite bedrooms, some with scenic views to Fife or overlooking private gardens.
