RBS 6 Nations Rugby is Back in Edinburgh

01/01/2017

The RBS 6 Nations Rugby is one of the world’s most famous and most enjoyed sporting events. We’re pleased to say the competition is back in Edinburgh in February, with three of the fixtures scheduled at Murrayfield Stadium. The world’s best rugby players, the finest officials and some fantastic games are bound to be enjoyed and we’re pleased to say three fantastic matches will show off just how wonderful Scottish hospitality can be.

Three matches during the 6 Nations will take place at Murrayfield in February and March 2017. Scotland versus Wales, Italy and Ireland will all be played at our stadium and we’re rooting for Scotland and looking to see whether Ireland will continue their winning form from previous years too.  The opening game will see the Scots take on Ireland and then Wales will come next in the third round, with a final game at the BT Murrayfield against Italy, with a trip to Twickenham to take on the English in between.

The whole competition will kick off at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, as Wales host England and the competition will continue to show off the skills of the finest players and teams in the world. Murrayfield will also be shown off in the finest light and Scotland will show just how great a host it can be.

Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium

First opened in 1925, the BT Murrayfield Stadium is the largest sports venue in the whole of Scotland. It is the home of Scottish rugby and has a 67,800 all-seater capacity and is often used for other sporting events and large arena concerts as well as for rugby.

The stadium is used for almost all home international rugby union matches and occasionally for other important championship sporting matches, including notably when Hearts FC required a suitable venue for their European campaign in the 2004/05 season.

Getting to the BT Murrayfield from The Royal Scots Club could not be easier and it makes us an ideal base if you’re planning to attend any of the matches during the 6 Nations. Just 15 minutes on the tram will take you to the doorstep of the stadium and there are also bus routes which go directly from our location to Murrayfield.
