Kate Polson, Chief Executive, Rock Trust

Kate has been working in the homeless sector for more than 20 years, from volunteering and practicing youth work to delivering and leading homeless services for people of all ages.

Having gained her BSc Social Work and DipSW, Kate continued to work in the sector leading mergers and successfully growing business through competitive funding processes. Kate is responsible for leading the delivery of the Rock Trusts ambitious strategy in Scotland and beyond including providing services to young people to enable them to avoid, resolve and move on from homelessness.

Mary Contini, Writer and Italian Food Ambassador

Mary Contini grew up with her seven brothers and sisters in a house on top of her father’s ice cream and fish and chip shop just outside Edinburgh. Mary has been a director of the famous Italian delicatessen Valvona & Crolla since 1983, and she has written a number of best selling books on the subject of food. In 2011 Mary was awarded the title ‘Cavaliere’ by the Republic of Italy (the equivalent to a British OBE) for her services to the promotion of Italian food and history of Italians. In 2015, she received a Life Time Achievement Award by the Scottish Italian Awards for her valuable contribution to Scottish cuisine.

Catherine Topley, Director of Corporate Services, Scottish Prison Service

A member of the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) Board, Catherine is responsible for the leadership and strategic development of the Corporate Services Directorate.

Catherine is now one of 2 women on the SPS Board of Directors having previously held the positon as the single female for several years. She is also the Executive Sponsor LGBT working in partnership to improve equality & diversity for those in the care of SPS and its staff. Including working in partnership with Scottish Trans Alliance to improve gender identity and gender reassignment equality, rights and inclusion in within the SPS.

Catherine has worked for a range of high profile organisations including the Greggs plc, the Royal Bank of Scotland and the Home Office, developing and implementing corporate strategies, including talent acquisition, retention and succession planning, mergers and acquisitions, and resourcing.
