A Lunch, a Laugh and a Lecture

Tourism, storytelling and religion will be on the menu at The Royal Scots Club this spring as we launch our 2013 Edinburgh Leaders Speaker Lunches.

The monthly lunches are open to all, including non members, and the first in the season will be delivered on Monday 18 February by Bob Downie, Chief Executive of The Royal Yacht Britannia. Vice Chair of the Scottish Tourism Leadership Group, Bob will be discussing the development of the new tourism strategy for Scotland.

Donald Smith, Director of the Scottish Storytelling Centre, takes his turn as guest speaker on Monday 18 March. He has published both poetry and prose and will be speaking about his latest book, Arthur’s Seat – Exploring the History and Folklore of Edinburgh’s Mountain-within-a-City.

The final talk of the season will be presented by the Right Rev Dr John Armes on Monday 15 April. Consecrated as the 26th Bishop of Edinburgh in May 2012, he was previously rector of St John the Evangelist Church, and Dean of the Diocese of Edinburgh.

The lunches start at 12 noon for 12.30 and non members are welcome. Tickets cost £14 and include a two course meal and coffee. Box office: events@royalscotsclub.com or phone 0131 556 4270
